How We Work

This is how …..

BASICS Hampshire doctors  are called to serious incidents – car crashes, medical emergencies in people’s own homes, and huge calls like the train crash at Ufton Nervet and the awful problems of 7/7.

They all carry a pager, which is activated by South Central Ambulance Control in Otterbourne near Winchester.  SCAS  page BASICS whenever they know they could be faced with a critical patient who needs advanced intensive care on scene.

So a  basic 999 call saved a dying  young athlete under difficult circumstances for the ambulance service and the BASICS Hampshire doctor.  Click to find out how.

Occasionally paramedics will phone doctors  directly – for instance when a patient develops a need for them which no one could have predicted.

Which is one of the things that saved Lara Badger for instance – click to find out how.
