BASICS responder Bruce Armstrong (seen left) has given two major talks to bikers about what to do when you’re first on scene at a road accident.
His first talk in the summer was to the New Forest HOGS (Harley Davidson riders to most of us non-bikers) – who are supporting us as one of their two charities this year. He covered scene safety, communication with rescue services, managing bleeding and airways and the key question: whether to remove the helmet off an injured biker. Oh, and CPR.
His second this autumn was to bikers on the Isle of Wight under the aegis of the police Bike Safe project.
