BASICS Hampshire doctor Nick Maskery visited Somerley Park for the second time in his life last weekend.
He remembers being the safety doctor for a horse event on the lovely grounds near Ringwood. This time he came to collect a cheque from the great team at Somerley Park Golf Club – who raised over five hundred pounds for BASICS Hampshire.
Club Captain Bob Quantick presented the cheque – saying it had been the result of the highly successful charity golf day earlier in the year followed by a wonderful picnic with live bands – and a huge amount of work from all concerned.
The club had chosen BASICS Hampshire for their charity after the “save” of one of the wife of one of their members by a BASICS H doc, Kim Price (see earlier posts)
Dr Nick Maskery said the Somerley Park Golf Club’s efforts were magnificent – “we’re a tiny charity and you’ve recognised we’re a worthwhile one – and contributions like yours literally help keep us on the road.
The team who made it all happen and helped organise yet another successful event were there to welcome Nick in for the cheque presentation. Including Terry de la Mare, David Williams (Seniors Captain), Bob Quantick (Club Captain), Dr Maskery BASICS Hampshire doctor and Emergency Medicine Consultant UHS) , Kim Price (whose life was saved by one of Dr Maskery’s colleagues) ,Marian Williams (Ladies Match Secretay) Hazel de la Mare (Social Secretay).
A thought perhaps to Dr Paul Rees – Kim Price’s doctor – now in Helmand and working under fire.
